So who’s already thought about what they want from 2020? I have this thing constantly running through my head at the moment, 20/20 Vision in 2020! Cheesy I know, but have you thought about it? Do you have a clear vision of what you want from the year ahead?
I don’t do New Years Resolutions, but I do regularly set goals for myself. Some are short term, quick things that I want to achieve. Others are more long term focuses for the year ahead. It’s a very mixed bag for me!
Firstly, I want to be fit again! In Taipei, I was constantly walking, up stairs, up hills, along the river. Walking was a massive part of my day. As a result, I was very fit. But since arriving in Auckland I haven’t been able to enjoy walking to the same level. I want to get back out there on a daily basis, and I want to mix it up with hills (there are plenty in Auckland) and beachside walks. I am lucky that another mum at school is keen to do some exploring walks with me too, so hopefully this is an easy goal to achieve.
My eyes! I don’t know if it’s climate related or just age related, but my eyes are so dry! If I touch the skin under my eyes, the imprint remains for a wee while after I’ve taken my finger away. So I need to do something about this? Not too sure where to start, but I need to research, talk to some people and fix it.
New recipes. I have so enjoyed being able to make all the family favourites again, after such a long period living in the hotel, it really has been a simple pleasure. But I’m now finding that I am relying on the same recipes week in, week out. No one is complaining mind you, but I need to get more adventurous and at least once a week try something completely new. Again, this should be very simple for me to achieve!
Independence. While I think we have raised beautiful young ladies, I would like to see the girls now start to be a little more independent. They have really had to rely on each other, moving every couple of years does have an impact. But for the first time, this week they have their own rooms. I am hoping that through this simple change, we can also start to foster some independence and individualism. Let’s see…
For Expat Parenting Abroad, it’s now a year since I launched officially and in 2020 I want to take my business to the next level. What is the next level… that’s the big question I have been grappling with. Rightly or wrongly, what I have decided to focus on is:
- To truly impact and change the lives of mums who want (and need) my support through my new coaching packages
- I have a monthly target for new members on my email list
- I want to be able to run support groups and mastermind groups concurrently
- Start offering a B2B service
How will I make all this happen for me? I have a journal where I have written it all down. I have taken the action points and put them in my diary. Each week I carry over the actions I didn’t achieve, which also gives me visibility of what is lagging (or where I’m procrastinating) and what I really need to focus on.
Have you considered what you want for yourself this year? What steps will you take to ensure you get there?
